Tour Details

In many cases, the beauty of nature is expressed through color. In particular the many shades of green and blue, which are a major feature of Zelengora mountain and the Tara River. A hike to Zelengora’s highest peak, Bregoč (2,014 meters above sea level), reveals views which instill peace and tranquility in all who witness them. The path going between Zelengora and the Tara River is amongst the most beautiful, however this stretch is also a physical challenge packed with adrenaline!

The morning after your arrival, you’ll be served breakfast between 7:30-8:30 and you’ll have a meet and greet with your guides and drivers and board our all-terrain vehicles. You will head towards mount “Zelengora” (or Green Mountain), a name which is derived from the forests, lakes and valleys the mountain is home to. Zelengora is a gentle mountain, and in complete contrast to mount Maglic and Volujak, from which it is separated by the canyon “Sutjeska”.

After a one-hour drive from Foča, across Tjentište and the mountain pass Čemerno, we reach “Orlovacki” Lake (Or “Eagle Lake”) tucked into a noble mountainous area surrounded by impressive peaks (Bregoc, Orlovac, Planinica, Klek …).

From Orlovacko Lake about 4 kilometers distance lies the ultimate destination and the highest peak of the mountain, “Bregoč”, which you will reach by pleasant terrain, through green meadows full of blueberry bushes. From Bregoč there is a clear view of a large part of the mountain, as well as the mountains Maglić, Volujak and Lebršnik.

Upon your return to Orlovacki Lake, we will have lunch near a spring of drinking water that flows into the lake, and we will collect blueberries as for a small dessert.

As you will return on the same road on which you came, around 16:00 the group will stop at “Tjentiste”, more precisely “The Valley of Heroes” where you will have a guided tour of the national monument commemorating the fallen soldiers of the “Battle of Sutjeska”, an integral battle against the Nazi forces in WWII. Day 3Tara River Rafting

After breakfast around 8 am, you will be fitted and receive rafting equipment (neoprene suit, neoprene boots, safety helmet, safety vest and paddle). The group will then drive via terrain vehicles to Brštanovica which is the starting point for rafting on the Tara River (a UNESCO protected area). The particular stretch of river has the highest number of rapids. Prior to starting your trip, your river guide (or “Skipper”) will hold a safety briefing. Your guide will also inform you of the history of this area while you make your way down the river!

From the starting point at Brštanovica begins the most entertaining section of the river. This section of the river stretches for about 20km from “Brštanovica” to “Scepan Polje”. The time of the descent itself is variable and depends on several factors, the most basic of which is the height of the water level, which generally depends on the time of year. Higher water levels result in faster descent, however throughout summer the water level drops, and as a result rafting this section can last three or more hours.

During the rafting trip the group will have an opportunity to take swimming and diving breaks as well as photo excursions. You will visit the coldest tributary of the river Tara, called the “Šipčanica” stream. After completing the rafting trip in Scepan Polje, you will depart the river and go back to the hotel for a shower and lunch.

After lunch, your tour has been completed.
