From the rivers Opasnica and Veruša, beneath the Komovo River, the Tara River is formed. This river by its sheer force, has cut one of the largest canyon gorges in the world out of hard limestone rock. The Tara is such a clear and clean river that it is drinkable throughout, and is rightly considered the “tear of Europe”. There are rocky and pebble terraces, sandy beaches, high rocks and a vast number of caves along the Tara River. With its depth of 1300 meters, the Tara Canyon is one of the deepest in the world.
