From the hotel, over the village of “Zavait” you will first stop at the remote cheese farm “Zlatni Bor”, where you will have the opportunity to purchase first class cheese made according to swiss recipe. You will have a truly unique lunch experience where you will enjoy domestic cheese with stunning views.

From “Zavait” you will head to “Vrbica”, where you will have the opportunity to view more than 200 monolith headstones within an old necropolis. These monoliths, called “Stećci”, are dated to the middle ages and are unique to this part of the world. This entire site, as of 2016, is a UNESCO world heritage site.

Your journey continues through the village of “Rijeka”, where you will visit the church of Saint Nicolas built in 1832. The significance of this national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina is reflected in the fact that valuable “icons” from the beginning and middle of the 17th century were exhibited there, which were placed in the church of Sv. Nicholas by the Holy Trinity Monastery in Pljevlja.

The next stop on your journey through the canyon of the “Tara” river will be “Vranovina”. At Vranovina we will organize a picnic lunch, with a divine view of the deepest canyon in Europe. After lunch, you will get familiar with one of man’s best friends, the horse. You will have the opportunity to ride along the ridge of the canyon. The views are truly serene, you will see across the canyon of the “Tara” river and towards “Piva” Mountain in Montenegro.

Day 3Rafting on the Tara river

After breakfast around 8 am, you will be fitted and receive rafting equipment (neoprene suit, neoprene boots, safety helmet, safety vest and paddle). The group will then drive via terrain vehicles to Brštanovica which is the starting point for rafting on the Tara River (a UNESCO protected area). The particular stretch of river has the highest number of rapids. Prior to starting your trip, your river guide (or “Skipper”) will hold a safety briefing. Your guide will also inform you of the history of this area while you make your way down the river!

From the starting point at Brštanovica begins the most entertaining section of the river. This section of the river stretches for about 20km from “Brštanovica” to “Scepan Polje”. The time of the descent itself is variable and depends on several factors, the most basic of which is the height of the water level, which generally depends on the time of year. Higher water levels result in faster descent, however throughout summer the water level drops, and as a result rafting this section can last three or more hours.

During the rafting trip you will take a number of swimming and photo breaks. You’ll have the opportunity to see and stop at other rivers flowing into the Tara including “Šipčanica” which, along with its beauty, is the coldest of these rivers. After your rafting trip has been completed at “Šćepan Polje” you will board our all terrain vehicles and head back to hotel “Kompas” for lunch and drinks.

At the hotel, after dinner and drinks, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy a well deserved rest.

Lodgings:
● Hotel “Kompas”, Foča

Meals:
● Breakfast includes Omelet, French Toast, Beef and Pork Prosciutto and other cold cuts, Bosnian cream cheese, homemade bread, butter, jam and honey. Tea or coffee will be available as well.
● Lunch will consist of several appetizers such as veal stew, seasonal salad and homemade bread as well as a main course consisting of roast veal and potatoes prepared under a “Sac” - a traditional method for cooking along with a traditional dessert called “urmašice”.
● Traditional diner (appetizers such as home made bosnian savoury cheese and spinach pies, mixed salad, roasted peppers, home made corn rolls and a variety of breads. The main course consists of traditional mixed meat and vegetable grill as well as vegetarian options).

Day 4Hiking on Zelengora mountain

Today, you’ll be served breakfast between 7:30-8:30, after which you’ll have a meet and greet with your guides and drivers and board our all-terrain vehicles. You will head towards mount “Zelengora” (or Green Mountain), a name which is derived from the forests, lakes and valleys the mountain is home to.

The first destination will be the lake “Donje bare”, where you will arrive via vehicle, and from which you will gently continue to the “Charred Peak” of the mountain on foot. Along the way you will pass the lakes “Gornje bare”, which along with the “Charred Peak” belong to “Sutjeska National Park”. The entire area is so pristine and picturesque that we’ll encourage you to charge up your cameras and phones so that you can capture some unforgettable moments along the way.

From the lake “Gornje Bare” to the “Charred Peak”, the initial incline on this path is the only physically demanding section, after which follows an easy to the summit. Upon reaching the top, it will be clear that the hike was worth all the effort. You will have a clear view over the entirety of the “Sutjeska National Park”, as well as the high peaks of “Zelengora Bregoč”, “Maglić” and the “Perućica” rainforest.

After you have had an opportunity for photos and filming, you will return to the lake “Gornje Bare” where you will enjoy a picnic lunch.

After lunch you will retern to our vehicles and head back to the hotel for entertainment, dinner and rest.

Day 5Lake cruise and Zipline in Višegrad

After breakfast, around 8:00, you will board our vehicles and depart towards “Višegrad”, where we have arranged zip line and boating on the Višegrad lakes formed by the “Drina” river.

At the very entrance to Višegrad, we will stop at “Bridge over the Drina”, which is one of the most significant cultural monuments of Bosnia and Herzegovina and which has also been included on the UNESCO list of cultural heritage since 2007.

The trip to Višegrad is full of symbolism and history. This applies particularly to the aforementioned bridge which was the endowment of “Mehmed Pasha Sokolovic”, one of the great Ottoman warlords, who was born in Višegrad. The bridge and the events surrounding it, and particularly its construction and passing through history, is immortalised in the novel "The Bridge over the Drina" by Ivo Andrić, a book for which he received the Nobel Prize in literature.

Downriver from the Bridge (though, the river has transformed to a lake in modern history through damming), you will find “Andrićgrad” which was created by Emir Kusturica (A famed film director and an inspiring figure in modern Bosnian history). This is an old town built in the fashion described by Ivo Andrić in his famous book and in honour of the author. To get a view of the collective of these landmarks and sites you will zip line from one bank of the river Drina to the other, and afterwards head to Andrićgrad for lunch.

After Lunch, you will board a small cruise boat which will take you on a two hour trip along the Višegrad lake and through and around the bridge itself.

After the boat cruise and upon returning to the hotel, your adventure will be complete.
